The track on Beech Street
Clinton Raceway is a Standardbred harness racing track at 129 Beech Street. The casino is on the same street, at 147. The track is owned and run by Clinton Raceway Inc., not by Gateway, so the two answer to different companies. It calls itself the Huron County Oval, which tells you plainly where you are.
Live racing runs on Sunday afternoons in summer, between May and September. Each season's race dates go up on clintonraceway.com, so check there before you plan a Sunday around a race. For anything the website does not cover, you can call the track at 519-482-5270.
How the track got here
Pari-mutuel betting at the track goes back to 1970. That year the Clinton Kinsmen and Kinette Club brought pari-mutuel wagering to Clinton Raceway. The track's betting history starts with a local club, not with a casino company.
The grandstand is newer. Clinton Raceway rebuilt it from the fall of 2024 as a modern 400-person grandstand. The same site holds live harness racing and the casino, along with simulcast race coverage. A playground and a skatepark are nearby, which is useful to know if you come with family too young for the casino floor.
Race betting off the casino floor
Nobody can place a race bet inside the casino itself. The simulcast is a Clinton Raceway operation, not a Gateway one, and its home is the Huron Fish and Game Club, with the street address 278 Alma Grove, Clinton. Wagers placed there cover racetracks across North America.
Hours are Monday to Thursday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon to midnight, and Sunday 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. All times are Eastern. The simulcast is open 364 days a year and closed Christmas Day. For other holidays, check clintonraceway.com before you drive over.
